Spring is In The Air
on Monday, February 14, 2011Last Saturday morning I looked out on our balcony and saw a beautiful little Crocus blooming in our planter. Ahh, Spring must be just around the corner. Given the difficult winter we’ve had in most parts of the U.S., I think that is terrific news! The promise of Spring brings the promise of growth, new life, and brighter days.
From my dealings with small business owners and job seekers, I believe economic Spring is also just around the corner. And given the long “winter of discontent” that has plagued us since the economic downturn, this news is welcome news! I’m not alone in my observations, either. In last week’s Oregon Business Blog Bill Conerly wrote, “The economy wants to recover. Economic activity is the norm. People want to consume, and are willing to work in order to do so.” I think he’s right. I think people in Oregon and other parts of the country are fed up with sitting on their hands waiting for better days. The best part of the American spirit (in my opinion) is our “can do” attitude and ability to make good things happen when we set our mind to it.
What do you think? What signs of new life are you experiencing in your industry? Where are the little glimpses of hope and growth in your business? What makes you hopeful that brighter economic days are ahead?
Leave your comments below so we can all share your hope. And don’t forget to make it an outrageous day!
